Research interest / experience

Dr Neringa Jurkute is a clinician-scientist in neuro-ophthalmology with clinical and academic roles at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, and Institute of Ophthalmology (University College London). She is specialising in complex visual disorders at the interface of ophthalmology and neurology.

She undertook a PhD at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology focused on ocular genomics, mitochondrial disease, and inherited optic neuropathies. Her research was focusing on inherited optic neuropathies, mitochondrial eye disease, gene discovery, and translational studies.

She is currently expanding her research focus to encompass a broader range of neuro-ophthalmological conditions and collaborates in various projects.

Dr Neringa Jurkute has over 60 peer-reviewed publications. She contributes actively to teaching, professional training, and international neuro-ophthalmology initiatives.
