On Tuesday 27 February Primrose Magala, nurse injector at Moorfields Eye Hospital, took part in a roundtable discussion with HRH The Duchess of Cambridge about the importance of strengthening the global nursing workforce.
Primrose was one of six nurses invited by Nursing Now, a campaign to raise the profile and influence of nurses, to take part in the discussion. Nursing Now is a collaboration with the World Health Organisation and the International Council of Nurses that aims to empower nurses to lead and find solutions to the challenges faced in healthcare.
The discussion took place at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and included representatives from the World Health Organisation.
Reflecting on the event Primrose said:
“Nursing Now is a great opportunity to elevate the profile of nurses, a key healthcare resource and heartbeat of healthcare and the NHS, delivering safe quality care despite constant challenges. Nurses have a bigger role to play in transforming healthcare systems globally than ever before. I believe that nurses have not yet utilised their full potential, Nursing Now's campaign is very timely. HRH The Duchess of Cambridge's endorsement will help motivate many towards positive transformation.”
