Moorfields Private is strongly represented in Tatler’s Doctors Guide: Ophthalmologists

Moorfields Private Eye Hospital is proud to be strongly represented in the latest Tatler Doctors Guide: Ophthalmologists, which highlights the eye specialists most trusted by private GPs for their patients across London.

This highly prestigious guide includes just five eye specialists from different sub-specialties, including only one refractive surgeon, as selected by private GPs across London.

The ophthalmologists recognised in the guide are all world-leading experts, most of whom have strong ties with Moorfields Private or the wider Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust:

Professor Carlos Pavesio

Professor Carlos Pavesio, a globally recognised consultant ophthalmic surgeon and Medical Retinal Service Director at Moorfields Private and Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, has over 35 years of experience in inflammatory and infectious eye diseases. Professor Pavesio is a trusted authority in immunosuppressive therapy, intravitreal treatments, and laser therapies. He has published nearly 300 peer-reviewed papers, delivered over 400 international lectures, and trained more than 150 fellows worldwide. His current research focuses on autoimmune retinopathy, continuing to shape the field globally.

Professor David Gartry

Professor David Gartry is a senior consultant ophthalmic surgeon at both Moorfields Private and Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. A pioneer in corneal, cataract, and refractive surgery, he has performed over 16,000 cataract procedures, 30,000 laser refractive treatments, and 1,000 corneal grafts during his career. He was the first surgeon in the UK to perform laser refractive surgery and treats patients ranging from members of royal families to fellow clinicians.

Mr Mark Westcott

Mr Mark Westcott has been a consultant ophthalmologist at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust since 2003 and performs surgeries at Moorfields Private. Mr Westcott specialises in glaucoma, retinal and inflammatory eye diseases, and minimally invasive cataract surgery.

The guide is based on recommendations from 45 highly respected private GPs across London, reflecting the trust that fellow clinicians place in Moorfields’ expertise.

I am truly honoured to be recognised in Tatler’s Doctors Guide: Ophthalmologists, particularly as the only corneal and refractive surgery consultant featured. London is home to so many exceptional specialists in these fields, so to be singled out in this way is both humbling and immensely gratifying.
