Moorfields' Stars of 2017

Moorfields’ Stars is back for another year, celebrating the achievements of our staff over the past 12 months

Moorfields' Stars 2017

Moorfields’ Stars is back for another year to celebrate the achievements of our staff and volunteers over the past 12 months. Year on year the volume of nominations we’ve received from staff and patients has increased and, with the continued support of Moorfields Eye Charity, we hope this year will be no exception.

Moorfields’ Stars includes five competitive awards: Moorfields’ star of the year, Moorfields’ team of the year, Moorfields Eye Charity award for innovation, the patient choice award, and the volunteer of the year award. Patients and volunteers are eligible to nominate in two of the award categories and we would love to get your nominations. The categories are:

The patient choice award

This award is open to patients (past and present), friends and family of patients, carers and foundation trust members to nominate a team or individual who has delivered exemplary patient care over the past 12 months. Your nominee(s) will have displayed behaviours and values that had a positive impact on your patient experience and demonstrated their commitment to going over and above to assist and support our patients.

Volunteer of the year award

This new award recognises those who volunteer at or for the benefit of Moorfields either directly or via one of the charities supporting the trust (Moorfields Eye Charity, Friends of Moorfields, the Thomas Pocklington Trust, East London Vision (ELVis) or Ronald McDonald House Moorfields). The volunteer or team of volunteers will have demonstrated one or more of The Moorfields Way commitments over the past 12 months and their commitment to go over and above to support the trust and our patients.

The Moorfields Way

The Moorfields Way defines the way staff and volunteers want to behave with each other and with our patients. To be a Moorfields’ Star, your nominee(s) will have demonstrated one or more of the following commitments.

CARING – makes people feel listened to and valued

ORGANISED – works efficiently and goes out of their way to minimise the amount of time people are kept waiting, and keeps people informed

EXCELLENT – makes a significant impact to the delivery of a world-class, professional service

INCLUSIVE – makes everyone feel informed, involved and part of the team
