Hostel accommodation is available at Moorfields and can be booked at your pre-operative assessment appointment. However, as space is a limited, those travelling long distances or with specific needs are given priority. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide accommodation for relatives with the exception of carers.
For those who wish to stay overnight before or after their treatment, a list of local hotels and bed and breakfasts is available from the pre-operative assessment clinic. Please note that patients will be responsible for arranging this accommodation and for the hotel costs.
The general criteria for staying in hostel accommodation is as follows:
- double padded patients who are accompanied,
- patients with restricted mobility but who are able to care for themselves independently,
- unilatera - padded and shielded patients who have undergone surgery and need to return for further surgery the following day,
- patients who are unable to return home due to distance,
- patients who had a general anaesthetic and who live alone with no support, and
- patients who require review the next day.
Hostel accommodation is available either in the hospital, or close to it.
Fourth floor hostel
There is a three bed hostel on the fourth floor of the hospital at City Road, with a warden on site. This is for patients who would not be able to walk the short distance to Britannia Walk or for those who need to be accompanied by a carer.
Britannia Walk
Britannia Walk is a short walk from the hospital at City Road, where there are 10 rooms situated in four flats. There is no hostel warden on site, although there are emergency telephones that automatically connect to Moorfields should you need urgent assistance.
