Eye treatment has advanced dramatically in recent years and most ophthalmic operations are now performed as day cases.
Day surgery (or ambulatory care) is when you are admitted to hospital in the morning, are operated on during the day and are then discharged in the afternoon or early evening. You are then able to return home.
If you have travelled a long distance and are therefore unable to travel home the same day, or have a follow-up appointment the next day at the hospital, or are unable to care for yourself at home, we can arrange for you to stay in hostel accommodation either in or close to the hospital. Please note, medical, nursing care is not available in the hostel.
Prescription charges
Patients need to be aware that they may be given a prescription after their treatment. This can be collected from our pharmacy on site, however unless the patient has an exemption certificate, the standard prescription charge will apply.
