A new leaflet containing recommended questions to help patients and healthcare professionals communicate the right information during appointments has been published by the Department of Health.

‘Questions to ask’ was developed through a consultation with more than 200 patients and NHS professionals. Suggestions for patient questions include:

  • can I check that I’ve understood what you’ve said?
  • how will I know if the treatment is working?
  • who do I contact if things get worse?

The materials come in a number of different formats and a wide range of languages.
