Research at Moorfields is carried out either alone or with our partner academic institutions (the Institute of Ophthalmology, City University, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine) or with others in the United Kingdom and internationally. Moorfields also collaborates with industry.
Typically over 200 research projects are being carried out at Moorfields at any one time and the Trust’s researchers publish over 200 papers each year, in various ophthalmological, medical and scientific journals. Many of these papers represent ground-breaking work and new treatments, which are then often highly regarded and cited by other researchers around the world as well as influencing the medical guidelines followed in UK medical practice, set by the NICE and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
