Patient forums represent the views of the local communities. As we are an NHS foundation trust we will not be forming patient forums within Moorfields. This is because our membership, and our Membership Council, will represent patients at all levels within the organisation.
We will have patient user groups which will represent patients through the sub-specialty services that we offer: adnexal, glaucoma, medical retina, vitreo-retinal, cornea, cataract and external disease, strabismus and paediatrics, primary care and neuro-ophthalmology.
Moorfields will have contact with patient forums by linking up with strategic health authorities (SHAs) and primay care trusts (PCTs) who use our services. Each of these wil have their own patient forums. The PCT and SHA patient forums will be able to inspect local services such as hospital wards, GP practices, dental surgeries, pharmacies, community clinics, day hospitals and community mental health centre.
