Moorfields celebrates five years as an NHS foundation trust
The new financial year, which began on 1 April 2009, heralds Moorfields' fifth anniversary as an NHS foundation trust.
In April 2004, we were one of the first 10 trusts across England and Wales to achieve foundation trust status, a success that we will be celebrating over the coming months.
As a foundation trust, we enjoy stronger links to patients and communities and greater independence to develop services in line with the needs of patients and local people.
Five years on, Moorfields continues to be at the forefront of new NHS developments such as this, demonstrated most recently by UCL Partners – of which Moorfields is an integral part – being designated as one of the UK’s first academic health science centres.
