Election time for Moorfields foundation trust governors
Moorfields Eye Hospital has announced that elections for foundation trust
governors to sit on its membership council will be held on Thursday 22 March
2012.
Anyone who is a member of the foundation trust* is eligible to
stand for election to the membership council, a 25-strong body, with
responsibility for representing the interests of members to the board of
directors and the management of the trust.
Elections will be held in six
constituencies covering London and parts of the south east (see table), and
nominations for governors are open to foundation trust members who are
residents of those catchment areas. There are also two patient governor
positions which are open to Moorfields’ patients who live in other parts of
England and Wales.
Moorfields’ governors come from all walks of life
and the role ranges from attending membership council meetings, to giving
views about Moorfields’ future plans, reviewing the pay for non-executive
directors, and developing and engaging the membership within their
constituency. Moorfields also invites governors to review our quality
standards, to take part in interview panels, and to give us their views on
our services and developments.

Nominations need to be submitted by noon on Monday 13 February, with
elections taking place on Thursday 22 March 2012.

*Anyone older
than 14 who is a patient at Moorfields or who lives in the communities around
our main hospital or one of our satellite locations (Greater London, Essex,
Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire) can become a member of our foundation trust
and stand for election.
