Moorfields' annual plan for 2011/12 sets out eight top priorities as summarised below. These are our main objectives for the year and are supported by objectives and detailed action plans.
A key driver in the development of these priorities is our need to continue to develop innovation in eye care and to afford the replacements to our antiquated estate in a very challenging financial environment.
The priorities build on progress towards last year's objectives, and will help us to achieve the longer-term goals set out in our 10-year strategy, Our Vision of Excellence.
- Improving the patient experience - delivering a more efficient and effective patient experience, environment and journey, through a structured programme of service improvement initiatives
- Making the most of new opportunities - responding effectively to the health and social care bill
- Providing better informtion systems - delivering Open Eyes, our bespoke ophthalmic electronic patient record
- Building a solid financial base - delivering a financially sustainable organisation
- Creating 21st-century hospital facilities - delivering a fit-for-purpose new central London hospital and further develop our district hubs
- Supporting and developing our staff - ensuring that we have an efficient, motivated and productive workforce available to meet future service models
- Leading eye research - continuing to lead the world in ophthalmic research
- Teaching tomorrow's eye experts - developing an integrated education and training strategy
