Local residents will get a chance to learn about eye health and blindness prevention at Moorfields Eye Hospital, when it opens its doors for World Sight Day on Thursday 8 October 2009.
World Sight Day is an annual event led by charity Vision 2020 and aims to raise public awareness of blindness and vision impairment as major international public health issues, influence governments to participate in and designate funds for national blindness prevention programmes, and educate target audiences about blindness prevention.
This year, Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is recognising World Sight Day 2009 on Thursday 8 October by holding health promotion events on eating for health, diabetes care and smoking cessation at City Road and at Moorfields at St George’s.
Everyone's welcome, so please come along.
