Some people have poor sight even with the best spectacle lenses. If, following medical treatment, vision remains below an acceptable level, patients can be seen in the low vision clinic at the Trust. Referrals to this service are made by an ophthalmologist or a GP.

The clinic can prescribe magnifying devices and gives patients advice about the use of good lighting and contrast. Our low vision resource room has a range of optical and electronic devices, including computers with text enlargement software.

Paediatric clinics specialising in the care of children with visual impairment run twice a week.
